Building Financial Confidence Through Real Understanding
We started selenoxiva because traditional financial education wasn't working. Too much theory, not enough practical application. Our approach focuses on hands-on learning with tools that actually make sense.
How We Started
Back in 2019, our founders were running financial workshops in community centres around regional NSW. People kept asking the same questions – not about investment theory or complex strategies, but basic stuff like "How do I actually track where my money goes?" and "What does this bank statement even mean?"
That's when we realised something important. Most financial education assumes you already understand the system. But what if you don't? What if you need to start from the ground up, with tools that show you exactly what's happening with your money in real time?
So we built selenoxiva. Not as another budgeting app or investment platform, but as an educational space where people can learn by doing – safely, practically, and at their own pace.
What Drives Us Forward
Practical First
Every tool and lesson connects directly to real financial decisions you'll face. We skip the theory-heavy approach and focus on what actually helps in daily life.
Genuine Support
Financial learning can feel overwhelming. Our community approach means you're never struggling alone – there's always someone who's been where you are.
Tools That Work
We build technology that makes complex financial concepts simple to understand and use. No jargon, no confusion – just clear, helpful tools.
The People Behind selenoxiva
Our small but passionate team combines deep financial expertise with genuine care for educational outcomes.
Astrid Kowalski
Co-Founder & CEO
Spent twelve years in retail banking before getting frustrated with how little customers actually understood about their own finances. Now focuses on creating educational experiences that bridge that gap. Lives in Dubbo with two rescue dogs and an unreasonable number of houseplants.
Elena Blackwood
Co-Founder & CTO
Former fintech developer who realised most financial apps were built for people who already understood finance. Specialises in making complex systems genuinely accessible. When not coding, you'll find her rock climbing around the Blue Mountains or experimenting with sourdough bread recipes.
Where We're Heading
Financial confidence shouldn't depend on where you grew up or what your parents knew about money. We're building tools and programs that give everyone a fair shot at understanding how money actually works in Australia today.
Our next learning cohort starts in September 2025, and we're always looking for feedback on how to make financial education more useful for real people dealing with real challenges.
